The 803 at TNMOC

In 2012, myself and Claude had a private tour of TNMOC on my birthday. A very enjoyable day and so many memories flooding back on seeing some of the exhibits there. But of course, for me the highlight of the visit was seeing the Elliott 803.

The glass fronted cabinet here is a film drive and allowed much more rapid input/output of data from the computer than using paper tape. Instead of using magnetic tape, it used a performated film base identical to that used in 35mm cameras. Instead of being coated in photographic emulsion, it was coated with a magnetic oxide.
