The 803 at TNMOC
In 2012, myself and Claude had a private tour of TNMOC on my birthday. A very enjoyable day and so many memories flooding back on seeing some of the exhibits there. But of course, for me the highlight of the visit was seeing the Elliott 803.
A high speed optical tape reader. Some versions of this reader can read at up to 1000 characters per second and are able to stop immediately on a single character at that speed. In practice, reading speed was often limited to a slower rate by the computer's processing rate.
